Persuasive Essay On Abortion - 1794 Words

There is a threat going on right now against women’s rights that many people might not know about. Women need to take charge and not let another day of a pregnancy go by where there is not a choice available to end things that might have happened accidentally, so the life of the woman can stay happy, healthy, and moving towards a life that the woman desires. The threat that clearly needs brought to attention is one involving abortions. The government, and to clarify more specifically the House of Representatives, has begun to pass a bill that will limit the time frame that women can receive a safe abortion. This bill passed through the House already and is more correctly called the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act (Unites States).†¦show more content†¦Levitan states straightforward that fetal pain is unproven, and so there remains no reason for why the Courts need to get involved with â€Å"a woman’s liberty interest in obtaining an abortion†¦ (Co llett). While talking about courts and the states, Nebraska was the first to ban abortions after twenty-weeks in 2010 (Line). Since then, 18 states total have passed similar bans over the unproven claim. Two, of the so far eighteen bans, have gone to court and proven to violate the constitution (Board). After Idaho, one of those 18, conducted a survey proving that the courts are trying to protect the fetus over the mother’s wants (Line). This can also mean that the claim of fetal pain can trump over the woman’s bodily integrity (Watson). This is not the first time a woman’s bodily integrity has been questioned. Back in 1973 the case of Roe v Wade clearly questioned abortions and in the end set a precedent. Because of this one precedent, there has been many times this case has proven to be useful, and soon that one precedent from long ago could be overturned if fetal pain would ever prove to be true (Watson).
